Art Upstairs presents MENAPIA, an exhibition of Wexford by artist Emma Byrne for Wexford Opera Festival 2007. The exhibition runs from Thursday 31st May to Sunday 17th June (11.00am - 7.00pm daily)
Menapia takes a fresh look at some of the architectural landmarks of Wexford town, and how memories can be imprinted on particular locations. In urban areas, buildings can exist for many lifetimes, and can become fixed points in space and time as the environment around them changes. Emma Byrne’s works are about evoking both the solidity and the transitory nature of such urban environments, and how the two elements collide in a town such as Wexford. Emma Byrne returns to her roots in this exciting new exhibition.
